Who Am I?

I can't wait to be your child's teacher this year.  We will learn so many fun things.  Here is a little bit about me:

I grew up in Rocky Ford, Colorado which is a very small town on the south eastern plains.  Rocky Ford is known for some of the best cantaloupes.  My dad was a fourth generation farmer, served on the school board for 18 years, and was president of the Colorado Association of School Boards during some of my formative years. We spent many hours cheering for our school mascot known as the "Meloneers."  It was a great place to grow up and had a huge influence on my decision to become a teacher.

After high school, I attended Colorado State University.  Go RAMS!  I spent my summers coaching a competitive swim team that won 2nd place at the state level.

I met my husband while studying abroad at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 1991.  We still to this day have a lot of loyalty at CSU.  My husband plays an active role in the CSU Business Roundtable and does speaking engagements at the school of business.  We love going to as many CSU games as possible.  I earned my degree from CSU in 1992 in Human Development and Family Studies. I have been teaching kindergarten and first grade for the past 21 years in Littleton and Douglas County and I love every minute of it.  I love learning so much that I earned a Master's Degree in Education with a focus in Literacy Development in 2003 and still take staff development classes to continue to learn and be the best I can be.

My husband and I have two children - Jack (16) and Abby (13).  They keep us busy with soccer, golf, cheerleading, skiing and just having fun as a family.  My son has already started his own internet business selling ski gear and apparel ( and Abby loves being the center stage flier for her cheer team. In 2013, I had a 21-0 record in tennis.  I won 2 NTPR tournaments, finished 2nd in 2 other tournaments, participated in two district competitions, and won the Colorado Cup Championships.  What a great year at 3.0.  I'm now playing at the 3.5 level and in the summer you will find me on the tennis court somewhere.  I also enjoy skiing and spending quality time with my friends and family.  I love being a mom and I love being a teacher.  I feel fortunate to have the perspective of both.  I can't wait to spend time with all of your children.
